A 16-year-old is hospitalized in serious condition in Bordeaux, after being hit by police fire while trying to escape control.

One of the passengers was taken into custody.

An investigation was entrusted to the Bordeaux judicial police.

In Bordeaux, a 16-year-old teenager is hospitalized in serious condition after trying to escape a police check on Monday, while he was driving a powerful car.

The facts unfolded Monday evening.

Around 11 p.m., the police officers of the BST (specialized field brigade) wanted to check the driver of an Audi RS3, registered in Poland.

But the driver refused to comply.

A chase then started.

A second police crew, officials from the departmental intervention company, arrived as reinforcements.

One of the two passengers taken into custody 

As the police attempted to intercept the Audi RS3, its driver crashed into one of their cars and allegedly drove towards other officials who opened fire, firing a dozen bullets.

The driver's car nevertheless continued on its way before coming to a stop.

Its 16-year-old driver was found behind the wheel with serious chest injuries.

The teenager, already known to the police, was hospitalized in critical condition. 

His two passengers fled on foot.

One of them, aged 21, was caught in the city center and taken into police custody.

The investigation was entrusted to the Bordeaux judicial police.
