The citizens drawn by lot to propose climate measures to the executive have used their red pens.

While Parliament is due to examine from March a bill inspired by some of their proposals, the "150" were invited to note this Citizen's Convention for the climate and its potential impact.

They were asked to assess, on a scale of zero to ten, whether government decisions would make it possible to "

approach the objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by now. 2030, in a spirit of social justice

”.

The majority of citizens present judged the result “unsatisfactory”, with an average score of 2.5 out of 10.

Similarly, the 120 or so registered out of the 150 drawn by lot noted harshly, with an average of 3.3 / 10, the government's consideration of their proposals, drawn up during nearly 18 months of work.

On the other hand, they consider that their Convention has been rather useful in the fight against climate change in France (score of 6/10) and that recourse to citizens' conventions is "

likely to improve democratic life

 " in France (score of 7 , 7/10).

But on the concrete translation of their measures, none of the six families of proposals obtained the average.

“Housing” theme: 3.4 out of 10. “Producing and working”, “eating” and “getting around”: 3.7 each.

“Consume” had 4 and the proposals on governance 4.1.

Two measures particularly disappointed citizens.

The first concerns the limitation of the harmful effects of air transport.

They feel that their ideas on the subject have only been partially taken into account by the executive, and give it a score of 2.8.

The crime of ecocide desired by the Convention and transformed into a simple offense in the text of the law obtains 2.7.
