Apple has just made a change on its French store: certain products now benefit from a repairability index.

However, all products are not yet affected.

With this approach, the Cupertino company is only bringing itself into compliance with the law against waste of January 2020 which requires this index to be displayed on certain products since January 1, 2021, reports the specialized media

The products whose repairability index is now indicated are as follows: MacBook Pro, MacBook Air M1 as well as iPhone from 7 to 12. As required by law, Apple therefore mentions a score out of 10 which gives an overall indication of how easy it is to repair a particular device.

The apple brand also provides consumers with the mandatory legal information: “documentation”, “dismantling, access, tools, fixing”, “availability of spare parts”, “price of spare parts” and finally “specific criteria”.

On the latest smartphone model, the iPhone 12, the repairability index is 6/10 while its predecessor only shows a score of 4.6 / 10.

When it comes to computers, the MacBook Air scores 6.5 / 10, the 13-inch MacBook Pro 6.3 / 10, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 chip 5.6 / 10.

If Apple has brought itself into compliance with French law by publishing this data, no one yet knows whether the company will decide to make this information available for all of its products in the future, whether for iPads. , Apple Watch, AirPods or iMac.
