Spotify: advertising also for paying subscribers -

Geeko

The undisputed leader in music streaming services is preparing to launch a new subscription in 2021. This will be aimed at audiophiles since it will focus on the sound quality of streaming.

The Swedish service is preparing to introduce a new level of “hi-fi” listening, offering sound quality worthy of CDs, without any compression.

By introducing this new option, Spotify is obviously seeking to appeal to audiophiles and to compete with services such as Qobuz or Tidal which are differentiated precisely by their superior streaming quality.

Others also offer paid options to enjoy superior sound quality.

This is particularly the case of Amazon Music and Deezer.

At what price ?

The new “hi-fi” subscription will allow subscribers to enjoy “CD quality, with lossless audio format”, without compression.

Obviously, this superior sound quality will come at a price.

Spotify has indeed confirmed that the option will be chargeable, without having yet specified its price.

The Swedish music streaming service has also not said whether it will be a separate subscription or whether subscribers will be able to enjoy it by paying a simple supplement.

By way of comparison, Qobuz and Tidal offer formulas at 19.99 euros.

Amazon Music's lossless option is also priced at $ 19.99 per month.

At the same time, the Swedish music streaming platform also announced its arrival in 80 new markets in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America.

A deployment that will allow it to reach up to a billion new potential customers.

Spotify is expected to share the list of affected countries soon.
