Lorenzo Caprile (54) seems that this of fame touches him in profile.

Delighted in his role as 'bad' in 'Masters of Sewing', he speaks without filter of everything that is asked of him.

"The bad guys always have more chicha," he

says shyly behind the black mask.

And no filter means you can give 10 good headlines in a 45 minute interview.

We met at the Pittu cafeteria, near his workshop on Claudio Coello street, to talk about his favorite places in Madrid.

He arrives on time and asks for a bar with olive oil and tomato and a black coffee.

The waiter calls him 'mister Caprile' with a certain derision.

"Television has cured me many insecurities. I am a shy and reserved person who, in addition, I come from a very conservative education," says the designer who shares the program with Palomo Spain and María Escoté.

In the fall of 2014 he was first told about the television project.

"Then it went into a drawer and until September 2017 I didn't know anything again."

A text message arrived on his mobile - even today he still does not have a WhatsApp or smartphone - in which he was informed that the program had been approved.

"And until today", with its fourth season.

The one who has been Queen Letizia's couturier -the red dress that she wore at the wedding of Mary and Federico of Denmark shone like few others- and of a multitude of famous homelands says that he

remembers more "mistakes and disgruntled clients than flattery"

and he repeats like a mantra that "the best client is the one who is yet to arrive."

When asked about the 'influencers', he quickly jumps: "There have always been influential people, from Marisol to Grace Kelly, through Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn or the Prince of Wales. What happens now is that they multiply with the networks, and at the same time mediocrity multiplies ".

BETWEEN UNAMUNO AND CLARA CAMPOAMOR

Beyond fashion, he

claims Unamuno

as a figure to study "at all hours."

Also to Clara Campoamor and Chaves Nogales: "Their books should be compulsory and at any age."

He likes to talk about politics and to be opposed.

"I always say what I think and that's how it goes."

He has lived in a hotel for ten years, he manages with a basic Nokia that teaches without complexes and

during the pandemic he began to help the Red Cross as another volunteer

.

"Throughout my life I have been able to get on the bandwagon of official Spanish fashion and I have not done so," he says while asking for some Manchego cheese to accompany the bar.

"

I have always believed that fashion cannot be a subsidized sector

. Public money is for other things."

With the pandemic, the activity of his workshop stopped in its tracks, there were no weddings, no parties, and no guests to make beautiful.

"Now I start to have some assignments, but they are dancing in the agenda to the rhythm that the restrictions change."

He wastes little time with those who do not contribute.

He would like to eat one day with Amancio Ortega: "

The Spain brand has been made by Inditex

."

And I would invite the socialist vice president Carmen Calvo to a coffee.

He has not been hooked to the series universe - "I prefer to read" - so far: "I only see the Spanish 'Servir y Proteccion".

He is not given to ordering deliveries and he does not drink alcohol, "well I miss the tinto de verano, the real one, with lemon".

We start the walk -on foot, who has recently sold his motorcycle- through 'his' Madrid ...

Favorite restaurants

... "Bogotá, on Belén Street, home cooking as humble as it is tasty. I also really like La Maruca de Velázquez, its squid, croquettes and cheese cake. If I want to remember my Italian childhood I go to Pulcinella , on Calle Regueros, but it doesn't exceed the kitchen of my mother Paola, the best cook in the world (and it's not a joke) ".

A getaway ... "To Gran Canaria. To Playa del Inglés. There I have a wonderful gang. When the state of alarm was decreed, I was there."

A store with history

... "My passion was to spend the afternoon at the Salazar stationery, located on Luchana street: unfortunately another historic store that closes its doors these days".

A clothing store

... "The little clothing that I buy I buy at Humana (second-hand store); my favorite is the one in Ronda de Valencia".

A city

... "Florence is my favorite. And I recommend visiting the Stibbert Museum, very little known".

A bookstore

... "Nakama bookstore, on Pelayo street. I trust its owner, Rafa a lot. I also love Pasajes and the Antonio Machado bookstore."

A museum ... "I go to the Romantic Museum a lot. The Museum of America seems like another gem to me. And I would also mention the Costume Museum, which has an incredible team of people."

A florist

... "I would say two: Casa Florida (Marqués de Riscal, 12) and Moss (Don Ramón de la Cruz, 51)".
