<Anchor> A

sexual crime convict with an electronic anklet was caught drinking alcohol late at night.

It violated the restrictions on going out, and at the time, probation officers ran straight to find the man, but they could not actively catch him and waited for the police to come.

What is the reason, reporter Park Chan-beom covered it.

A man staggers and wanders around the convenience store.

When I asked the employee if he had a knife, he sweared.

[Convenience store employee: "Do you have a knife?"

When I asked him like this, he said he didn't have a knife.

This man was a convict of sexual offenses against a child wearing an electronic anklet.

Going out and excessive drinking after midnight are prohibited, both of which are violated.

Immediately, a probation officer was dispatched.

But the man ran away while pushing the probation officer and reporting to the police.

The man did not respond to the instructions of the probation officer and was caught by the police after walking the distance for about an hour.

If a probation officer immediately arrested Mr. Kim, it was a disturbance that could be stopped.

The problem is that probation officers don't have the right to investigate.

For this reason, it is inevitable to be passive against the arrest of current criminals, and in case of an emergency, they often rely on the police.

[Former Probation Office Electronic Supervisory Officer: We do not have jurisdiction, so we cannot arbitrarily arrest the police, so we always have to seek help from the police.]

This problem consciousness grew in tandem with the release of Cho Doo-soon last December. An amendment to the law has been passed that grants judicial police powers to probation officers.

As direct investigations became possible in June, it is time to see if the practice of passively responding to the offenses of convicts of sexual crimes will change.
