Both elderly people were hospitalized for different causes, but they ended up contracting coronavirus.

The couple, who had been together for 70 years, have died three days apart at Trafford General Hospital in the UK.

When he found out that his wife was about to die, he asked to meet her.

The story has been spread by his own daughter and the emotional image of his farewell has already gone around the world.

His daughter Barbara says that her parents liked

They were married in May 1950, in Partington, the city in which they had lived until their death.

Derek died first on January 31 and Margaret just three days later.

Barbara has thanked

the health workers who treated her parents for

the care until they died.
