After launching new iPhone models last fall, Apple is already thinking of stopping production of one of its smartphones.

This is the iPhone 12 mini that would not meet the expected success with consumers, reports

.

Decrease in production

This revelation was made by William Yang, an analyst at JP Morgan.

According to him, Apple could make the decision to definitively stop production of the iPhone 12 mini as early as the second quarter of 2021. At the start of the year, the company began by reducing by 11 million units the production of this model on which it nevertheless relied a lot.

And for good reason, after the success of the iPhone SE, Apple had chosen to respond to a demand from users who wanted a high-end smartphone in small format.

In the end, it seems that smartphones with larger screens are more preferred.

About 6% of sales

Among the various models - namely the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max - Apple's small form factor is said to only account for 6% of sales while the iPhone 12 conventional would total 27%.

The company would bet on the two Pro models of the iPhone 12 by increasing their production by two and eleven million units.

For now, no one knows if Apple will decide to stop the sale of this iPhone model when stocks run out and if it will decide to restart production according to demand.
