The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has just unveiled a new wireless charging technology.

Air Charge allows you to recharge the battery of a smartphone without having to put it on a charging cradle, as is the case with current wireless chargers.

Placing the phone near the charging “terminal” is enough to recharge it.

According to Xiaomi, this new wireless charging technology is based on spatial positioning and energy transmission.

The charger has five antennas that allow it to accurately detect the location of a smartphone, provided it is compatible.

Once the phone is located, the charging unit sends it very high frequency millimeter waves from a distance to recharge its battery thanks to its 144 integrated antennas.

Xiaomi indicated that it had managed to integrate a network of miniaturized antennas in a smartphone, in order to make it compatible with the Air Charge.

These "beacon" antennas allow it to broadcast information on its position in order to be detected by the charging base.

Promising but still very opaque

The manufacturer specifies that as it is, the Air Charge technology is capable of providing a recharge with a power of 5W in a radius of several meters - without further details.

The terminal can also charge several smartphones at the same time.

In addition, physical obstacles would not be a problem for the signal.

The charging technology developed by Xiaomi is impressive and truly embodies the concept of wireless charging.

Thus, it will be possible to continue to use your smartphone while it is being charged without it being placed on a base or connected to a wire.

If the concept already seems to be successful, a lot of shadow parts persist.

How does the recharging process start?

Is recharging done permanently?

Don't millimeter waves interfere with Wifi or 5G?

When will this technology be available to the general public?

The Chinese manufacturer has indeed indicated nothing on this subject, so it will be necessary to be patient.

It is not uncommon for manufacturers to demonstrate their know-how without their prototypes being developed for the general public.
