An employee of a Pôle Emploi agency in Valence, in the Drôme, was targeted by an armed man on Thursday morning.

The victim succumbed to his injuries while the suspect, 45, unknown to law enforcement and intelligence, was arrested. 


A man broke into around 9 a.m. Thursday morning in a Pôle Emploi agency in Valence, in the Drôme region.

He opened fire on an employee who succumbed to her injuries, according to information gathered by Europe 1.

A suspect unknown to the police

The suspect then resumed the road and went to the other side of the Rhône, to Guilherand-Granges where he again used his weapon in the direction of employees of a recycling company, causing one injured.

The gunman took the road back to Valence and hit a police car.

He was arrested and taken into custody.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the suspect is 45 years old and completely unknown to the police and intelligence services.

We do not yet know the motivations for his criminal act.
