Democratic Party's leadership decided to allow the impeachment of its lawmakers against a judge who was involved in the'Judicial Nongdan suspicion case' when Yang Seung-tae was former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

It was decided to entrust the voluntary vote of the lawmakers, but the actual impeachment prosecution is possible only with members of the Democratic Party.

Democratic Party's general meeting of lawmakers, the impeachment prosecution against Judge Im Seong-geun, who was involved in the alleged case of the Judicial Nongdan, was discussed in depth.



On the day of the Sewol ferry disaster in 2014, Deputy Judge Im raised suspicions over the actions of President Park Geun-hye.



Former Bureau Chief Kato was acquitted, but Judge Lim was handed over to trial on charges of asking Judge Lee Dong-geun to change the sensitive expression of the judgment.



After discussions, the Democratic Party's leadership decided to allow a motion to impeach Judge Lim.



However, this is not a party issue, and we have decided to allow individual motions to be processed according to the procedure of the National Assembly Act.



Rep. Tan-hee Lee, who has already received the consent of more than 100 fellow lawmakers, is said to have proposed impeachment proceedings soon to handle the provisional assembly in February.



Out of a total of 300 seats, 173 seats for the Democratic Party can vote.



Under the constitution, impeachment proceedings against incumbent judges are passed with the consent of a majority of the current members.



If the impeachment bill is passed, the decision to impeach the first judge goes to the Constitutional Court.
