The government has extended the suspension of flights departing from the UK for an additional two weeks until the 11th of next month.

This is to block the inflow of the COVID-19 mutant virus that is spreading in the UK.

The Corona 19 Central Accident Countermeasure Headquarters held a meeting this morning (27th) and announced that it has decided to extend the suspension of flights from the UK for an additional two weeks.

Earlier, the government temporarily suspended flights departing from the UK from December 23 to 31 last year, and has extended it once, as mutant viruses were reported one after another in the UK.

Since last month, the quarantine authorities have lowered the fever standard applied during the immigration quarantine process from 37.5 degrees to 37.3 degrees and require all foreign visitors to undergo diagnostic tests twice, within 3 days after entry and before quarantine.

In particular, domestic and foreign nationals entering the country from the UK and South Africa must submit a gene amplification (PCR) negative confirmation issued within 72 hours from the departure date.

In addition, even if the PCR test is negative, additional tests must be performed at temporary living facilities.

As of the 25th, a total of 27 people in Korea were found to be infected with the foreign mutant virus.
