Savagely beaten and left for dead on January 15 in the Beaugrenelle district in Paris, Yuriy, 15, is still unable to respond to the police.

But the investigation is progressing all the same, in particular on the context of the attack.

The trail of a punitive expedition is privileged.

In Paris, the investigation continues after the lynching of Yuriy, a 15-year-old schoolboy, brutally beaten and left for dead on January 15 in the Beaugrenelle shopping district.

The images, posted on social networks, aroused great emotion.

While the teenager, out of the coma, is not yet able to answer the questions, the work of the police is progressing, especially in the context of this tragedy.

Identification of current authors

And now, for investigators, the lynching scenario is a virtual certainty: it was indeed a punitive expedition between gangs, in retaliation for a previous clash ten days earlier.

It remains to patiently identify - it is in progress - all the protagonists, starting with the ten aggressors who would be from Vanves, just south of Paris.

To find them, the police are counting both on testimonies and on material clues that they have been able to find on the spot: fingerprints, DNA traces.

They are also relying on the analysis of telephone data from that evening and other CCTV recordings.

Did Yuriy participate in a gang rivalry?

One of the questions is also why Yuriy got involved in this brawl.

The police, who have not yet been able to question him, do not rule out his possible participation in the rivalry between gangs.

The teenager would even have been carrying a screwdriver.

He found himself isolated from the rest of the group, surrounded by his attackers, the victim of an outburst of violence considered an attempted murder.
