Not just bats.

Since the start of the pandemic that has forced the confinement and almost halting of daily life in many countries, investigations have been detecting animal species that can be infected with coronavirus, although it has not been unequivocally proven that they all transmit it to people .

Some of them coexist with man, like cats.

In Spain, the case of

'Negrito'

, a four-year-old pet that lived with a family affected by Covid-19, has been documented.

The feline, which had developed antibodies, had severe respiratory problems and was euthanized.

But he did not die from the disease.

In recent days it has been known that another cat has indirectly become the origin of a new outbreak of the disease in the Chilean town of Santo Domingo.

Fifteen people were infected as a result of the pet's birthday, as BioBio Chile announced, citing the Regional Secretary of the Ministry of Health in Valparaíso.

"Although it seems incredible and even fiction, these things really happen in our country," said Francisco Álvarez, who posted the episode "months ago."

Initially, as he recognized, it was thought that the explanation provided by those affected was a joke or responded to an attempt to hide another situation, but

the circumstance was confirmed by six of the attendees

.

Álvarez explained that ten people attended the party.

All of them tested positive and in turn transmitted it to five other contacts.

But no one should be alarmed.

"The cat never had the virus. The organizer of the birthday, its owner, was the index case," said this public official.

In the end,

there was a cat locked up

and the responsibility (or irresponsibility) was human: "Without a doubt," Francisco Álvarez concluded, "people, in order to meet, make up any excuse."
