A man in his 80s who committed obscene acts in front of his 13-year-old granddaughter and forcibly harassed his granddaughter several times was sentenced to imprisonment at the second trial.

Today (20th), the Gwangju High Court, Jeju First Criminal Division (Judge Wang Jeong-ok), sentenced 82-year-old A, who is charged with forced harassment and child abuse due to relatives, to six years in prison, the same as the lower court.

According to the facts of the prosecution, Mr. A committed several forced assaults against his granddaughter from July 2017 to April 2018.

It was also confirmed that he showed obscene acts in front of his granddaughter.

As for the reason for the crime, Mr. A insisted, "I did it because my granddaughter was cute."

In October of last year, at the first trial, Mr. A filed an appeal saying that the sentence sentenced was too heavy and unfair, but the second trial court dismissed it, saying, "There are no special circumstances to change the sentence after the centrifugal trial, and it is difficult to say that the sentence under trial is heavy."

The judge explained the reason for dismissing the appeal, saying, "Until this trial, the families of the defendants, who were also victims' families, did not forgive and recover from damage."

In the process of the trial, Mr. A asked for an election, saying, "Please take into account the elderly age and the visual impairment," but the

court did not accept that "the family has to take care of Mr. A, who has a disability

, but

the family is not hoping for it."
