MADE IN ENGLAND: Four British series on HBO to watch in marathon mode
WORLD SUCCESS Lupine, the French series that sweeps Netflix
On Tuesday 19
July
, a series about the brutal attack on the Norwegian island of Utøya and another that took place in Oslo in 2011
will premiere on Filmin
22 July
. We take the opportunity to review other
recent Nordic productions
that have reflected the
thousand faces of terrorism .
JULY 22 (FILMIN)
For almost
5 hours
, this co-production between Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Denmark recalls the
tragic day of July 22, 2011
.
On that fateful day, a
car bomb
explosion
killed 8 people in Oslo, and 77 more were killed on
Utøya, an island near the Norwegian capital
, by an armed extremist.
Throughout six chapters we witness the development of these events with characters involved in those attacks.
In this production of the Norwegian public television (NRK) we can discover how both
policemen, doctors and journalists, among others,
experienced the crimes
.
The creators of this six-part series, which already triumphed years ago with
Occupied
, managed to
achieve
high audience ratings on
July 22
when it premiered
almost a year ago in Norway.
Having counted the collaboration of people involved in the events has resulted in a
very faithful narrative
that alerts us to the dangers that extremism entails.
WHEN THE POWDER SETTLES (FILMIN)
An attack leaves consequences
.
And, as we see in this Danish series, it is very difficult to turn the page for those who suffer from it closely.
Throughout ten episodes we witness the
before and after of a terrorist act.
A young waiter, a minister, a plumber ... up to eight characters appear in the foreground.
We see them smile, work or interact with others, oblivious to the
barbarism that will happen in a Copenhagen restaurant
and that will leave several dead and quite injured.
Its premiere on Danish television paralyzed activity in the country, with audiences over 40 percent.
It should be made clear that
its rhythm is slow and that it hardly allows moments of respite
by portraying all the events with great drama.
KALIFAT (NETFLIX)
How do you get a Western girl to drop everything and go to Syria?
Is it possible to avoid the attacks thanks to the efforts of the
intelligence services
?
How do citizens live in an oppressive regime?
All those questions (and a few others) find some answer in this eight-part Swedish series.
In it, in addition to
discovering how a terrorist attack in Sweden is gestated (and / or prevented)
, we see the subtle conversion of a Western girl into a follower of the Islamic State and the attempts of another young woman to leave Syria.
The plots move slowly to show in detail how the loneliness of some can
serve others to wash their minds and win them over to their cause.
BULLETS (AXN)
Almost a year ago, a 10-episode series co-produced by Finland, Belgium and Germany premiered in Spain.
The plot is set in Finland, where two women maintain a constant pulse.
They are Mari Saari, a
police officer
, and Madina,
a terrorist
.
The first receives the order to infiltrate the circle of the second to
prevent an attack.
While trying to accomplish her goal, Mari will have to go through all kinds of awkward situations if she wants to avoid having her true identity revealed.
Although some
script twists make what seemed clear to become confusing.
To highlight the great role of the two leading actresses: Krista Kosonen, who plays Mari, has participated in
Blade Runner 2049
, while Sibel Kekilli, who plays Madina, was part of the cast of
Game of Thrones
.
