A hacker posted an ad for the sale of a stolen database on the French dating app Waiter.

In total, 629,000 profiles were concerned.

Posted on December 22 for the sum of 2 euros, this announcement is not however worrying for the users because the database does not contain any information allowing to identify people, reports the specialized media

CyberGuerre

.

The information available concerned at least age, first name, gender and country of residence.

Depending on the profiles, there was more or less information available.

Up to 50 criteria could be entered such as sexual orientation, level of education, height, weight or the type of relationship sought.

A server left open without protection

However, this database does not contain information such as the last name, the email address or the telephone number.

This data was stored elsewhere.

In other words, even if the quantity of profiles concerned is large, the security breach does little damage insofar as the available information does not allow any user identification.

CyberGuerre

alerted the company on Tuesday January 12 of this leak after noting the sale on a forum accessible to all.

Those responsible for the app quickly found the security flaw and fixed it.

It was about a server that had been left open without any protection.
