Twitter continues to clean up on its platform… The accounts of two former leaders of the dissolved guerrilla of the Farc (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia), who have resumed arms and are wanted by the courts, have been suspended, explained on Friday the social network.

"At Twitter we do not tolerate terrorist organizations or violent extremist groups, or people affiliated with and promote their illicit activities," said a spokesperson for the company.

The profiles of ex-number 2 of the communist guerrilla Farc Ivan Marquez and his right-hand man Jesus Santrich appear with the mention "account suspended", and their messages can no longer be read.

The account of the new rebellion, named “Segunda Marquetalia”, has also been suspended.

Twitter suspended the accounts of FARC fighters Jesús Santrich and Ivan Márquez, upon request of the Colombian national police, after they released a critical statement of narco-president Ivan Duque.

A video criticizing the Colombian president

Twitter's move comes after former rebels broadcast a video criticizing Colombia's conservative President Ivan Duque, accusing him of "undermining the peace deal" and supporting an ongoing initiative to revoke his mandate.

Ivan Marquez, Jesus Santrich and about twenty former guerrillas disassociated themselves in August 2019 from the historic peace agreement that ended more than half a century of armed conflict between the authorities and the Farc.

The peace tribunal responsible for trying the most serious crimes in the conflict excluded the two dissidents from the penal benefits enshrined in the pact, so that if they were captured, they would be at the disposal of ordinary justice.

Up to $ 10 million for information allowing their capture

Critic of the peace agreement, President Duque maintains that Ivan Marquez and his relatives are in hiding in Venezuela, where, according to the government, the leaders of the National Liberation Army (ELN), the last active guerrilla recognized in Colombia, have also found refuge.

According to military intelligence, these illegal groups in the neighboring country number 1,400 people.

The United States, which also accuses the two men of drug trafficking, is offering up to $ 10 million for the information that allows their capture.
