From February 8, WhatsApp users will have to agree to share their personal data with the other entities of the Facebook group in order to continue using messaging.

The two billion users of the application will indeed be forced to accept the update of the terms of use, otherwise they will no longer be able to access their account.

"Updates to privacy policies are common in the industry and we are providing users with all the information they need to verify the changes that will take effect on February 8," a spokesperson for the group said.

Your telephone number, your name, your profile picture, your status, your contacts, your transaction data or even your IP address may thus be communicated to the social network and its subsidiaries.

Until now, WhatsApp left the choice to its users to refuse such sharing of personal data.

This sudden decision sparked a lot of reactions, and serious concerns from users.

Many have simply decided to quit WhatsApp to fall back on other more secure encrypted messaging services.

Are you worried that the Facebook group will use your personal data without your consent, and for purely commercial purposes?

Do you plan to quit WhatsApp because of these new terms of service?

Have you already done it, or will you do it before the new regulations are officially put in place on February 8?

What other messaging system do you plan to use?
