Two people were killed on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, in Essonne, trying to escape the police.

At around 2:30 am, the suspicious behavior of a driver driving at high speed intrigued a crew of gendarmes patrolling in an unmarked car.

Based on the information gathered by Europe 1, the military first followed the car remotely before finding through the files that it was reported stolen and wanted.

The gendarmes then activated their rotating beacon to signal themselves and attempt to control the motorist and his passenger.

But according to the first elements of the investigation, the man behind the wheel suddenly took a roundabout upside down and entered a lane in the opposite direction before hitting head-on a heavy truck who was coming in front.

Both occupants of the car were killed instantly.

A judicial inquiry is opened to establish the exact circumstances of this case.
