The goal: to restore the image of the institution among the youngest, in a sometimes tense period. 

After Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, the national police land… on Snapchat!

While the institution is criticized, accused of racism and violent acts, a police officer has been appointed to lead this account, active since last night, and which aims to renew dialogue with the youngest.

"To give a good impression"

"My name is Anthony and I am a police officer. The question you must all ask yourself is: why the police are coming to Snapchat?" Asks Anthony, a police officer for 14 years and most recently an investigator within the national police.

Short and rhythmic videos, offbeat tone: he is now the face of the national police, responsible for showing behind the scenes of the institution. 

"We have an age group, a core target which is 12 to 24 years old, because it is true that perhaps there is a lack of communication towards this age group", explains t -he.

"I want to think that we will be able to give a good image."

Business that sometimes starts on Snapchat

The idea of ​​this account germinated in 2020, in the context of cases of police violence.

Some started on Snapchat, hence the importance of the presence on this network.

"If questions arise about operations or actions of the national police, however, the national police is not limited to an image captured for a few seconds," said Michel Lavaud, spokesperson for the national police.

A 23-year-old YouTuber has been recruited to disguise the strict etiquette of the police.
