<Anchor> The

Dongbu Arterial Road, which connects Gangbuk and Gangnam in Seoul, is notoriously congested and has been expanded for more than 10 years.

It was finally opened a week ago, but there are reports from citizens that it is more blocked than before.

Reporter Yoo Su-hwan came to the scene.

<Reporter> This

is the situation on the way to work on the Dongbu Expressway, which opened at the end of last year.

Vehicles lined up endlessly on the exit road seldom move.

[Jang Young-hoon/Reporter: It's 8:25.

I will leave.

Im here.

Arrival time is 9:14.

It seems that it took about 50 minutes.] It

took 30 minutes when it was the most blocked, but it is said that it took almost twice as long since the opening of the extension road.

Citizens using this road thought that the congestion that had been more than 10 years old would go down once it was opened, but expectations turned into anger.

[Kwak Jeong-gon/Reporter: I have been waiting for 12 years.

12 years.

What is the opinion of the residents?

'It's an ant hell, it's an ant's den', it's too desolate and too disastrous.]

Over the past week, complaints of anger in Seoul have been flooded.

[Seoul City official: To the extent that I can't actually work because I answer the phone...

Some people said why there was no advance ramp, and that they were in the underground car for an hour and a half...

.

We are taking it seriously.]

Then, why is it getting more blocked when the lane is extended?

The newly expanded section is about 7 km from Uijeongbu to Nowon Wolgye Bridge.

There were four exit routes in all of this section, but the two exit routes in the middle were closed with the expansion work.

This has made the bottleneck worse.

In fact, the Seoul Metropolitan Government compared the traffic conditions with advances at 9 am on Monday before and after the opening of the extension road.

Vehicle average speed dropped to 1/6.

The city of Seoul says that it was forced to close the two exit routes by making the section underground.

[Seoul City officials: (if ground) noise or dust can have an environmental impact on local residents.

There is no exit because it is an underpass.] As

the serious congestion may be a temporary phenomenon, the city of Seoul is in a position to seek a solution after additional monitoring.
