Of the 715 newly confirmed cases, 672 were confirmed cases in Korea, excluding 43 cases from overseas.

By region, there were 193 in Seoul and 214 in Gyeonggi, with 455 from the metropolitan area and 217 from the non-metropolitan area.

As 26 people died from Corona 19, the cumulative death toll was 1,007, surpassing 1,000 for the first time.

In the last month, 440 people have died from Corona 19 as a group infection in nursing hospitals continues.

[Sae-gyun Jeong/Prime Minister: The cumulative death toll also exceeded 1,000 today.

Most of them are elderly people in their 70s or older who were in nursing homes or nursing homes.]

Among the cumulative deaths, 10 people died at home because they were not assigned a bed in time after diagnosis.

Excluding the two who died during the first epidemic of the Sincheon region in Daegu, 8 have died since December of last year, and it is interpreted that the allocation of beds has been delayed as there have been around 1,000 new confirmed cases.

The quarantine authorities said that the rate of COVID-19 outbreaks decreased from 48% at the end of last November to within 30% at the end of December, but further outbreaks centered on vulnerable facilities remain a detonator.

In the midst of this, Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun acknowledged that the situation had grown due to the missed initial response time for the group infection at the Eastern Detention Center, and the Ministry of Justice ordered that the Ministry of Justice cooperate closely with the quarantine authorities to make all-out efforts in emergency response.
