Officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, who are accused of deleting internal data related to the Wolsong Unit 1 nuclear power plant, have been handed over to trial.

The Daejeon District Prosecutor's Office 5th Criminal Division announced today (23rd) that it has prosecuted three people, including Director Moo Mo Moon, Manager Mo Mo Jung, and Clerk Mo Kim, for damage to public electronic records, violation of the Auditor's Law, and intrusion of room.

Director Moon and Clerk Kim were charged with imprisonment, and Director Chung was prosecuted without custody.

They are accused of instructing, tolerating, and assisting with the deletion of related materials before the auditor's request for submission of audit materials.

In particular, after an interview with the auditor of the Audit and Inspection Service was scheduled last year, the prosecution's investigation revealed that the previous day (Sunday) at around 11 pm, the prosecutors found that they entered the office of the Ministry of Industry at the Sejong Government Complex and deleted 530 documents related to Wolseong Unit 1 for two hours.

It is known that the prosecution is also checking the involvement of the Blue House in the process of discussing the decision when to close the Wolseong nuclear power plant early.

It is said that the summons investigation of former business minister Paik Woon-gyu and Chae Hee-bong, then the Blue House industrial policy secretary, who are classified as key suspects in the audit report or prosecution investigation, has not been conducted.

There is also an analysis that the power of the investigation is declining as Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol received a two-month disciplinary punishment.
