A former monk in his 30s accused of distributing sexual exploitation shared in'Paksabang' through Telegram was sentenced to six years in prison in court.

Judge Park Min, who was exclusively 9 criminal in the Suwon District Law, was charged with violating the law on sexual protection of children and adolescents today (21st), and completed a 120-hour sexual violence treatment program with the same imprisonment. A notice of disclosure of personal information, restrictions on employment in institutions related to children and adolescents and welfare facilities for persons with disabilities for 10 years, and an order to collect 2.24 million won were imposed.

Judge Park said, "Even though the defendant has a duty to practice the teachings of Buddha as a Buddhist monk, it is very likely that he has forgotten his duty and committed numerous vices," he said. "The victims who have already suffered damage from the distribution of illegal videos should be washed again. I have suffered beyond measure and are demanding severe punishment for the accused.”

He added, "The defendant is repenting and insisting that the profits from the crime are not great, but considering the weight of the crimes committed, the social harm caused by it, and the pain of the victim, a medium sentence is inevitable."

Mr. A kept his head down and said nothing throughout the sentence.

He is known to have been expelled from the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism after this incident.

Mr. A was accused of distributing more than 8,000 cases of sexual exploitation while operating four sexual exploitation sites from 2016 to last March.

In addition, there is a charge of purchasing videos shared by a third party in Telegram chat rooms that distribute sexual exploitation of minors, such as'N-Bang' and'Park Sa-Bang', and sold them for over 1.5 million won over 50 times.

It was found that Mr. A possessed a total of 1,260 sexual exploits, including videos targeting children and adolescents, such as mobile phones.

Mr. A argued that it was unclear whether or not the character was a child or adolescent among 400 cases of sexual exploitation he distributed or possessed, but the court found them guilty except for 40 cases.
