Of the 926 new confirmed cases, 892 were domestic outbreaks, minus 34 cases from overseas, of which 70% were confirmed in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do.
Even in the non-metropolitan area, confirmed cases were found in cities and provinces across the country, excluding Sejong City, including 48 in Gyeongbuk and 23 in Jeju.
In the second week of applying the 2.5th stage in the metropolitan area and the second stage in the non-metropolitan area, the average number of domestic cases per day for the last week is close to 1,000.
The government plans to put in place special quarantine measures for the year-end and New Year holidays ahead of Christmas this week to curb the three-stage upgrade as much as possible.
