The Collab application tested by Facebook for several months in beta version is finally available since Monday.

Only iOS users can access it for now.

This collaborative music creation tool can create clips of about 15 seconds, modeled on TikTok videos, reports Techcrunch.

It is possible to share there excerpts where one plays for example an instrument.

These sequences are then hosted on a Facebook server and can be picked up by anyone.

Users then have the option of mixing up to three with automatic synchronization, bringing a music clip to life.

#Facebook launches Collab, an app for creating collaborative and remote music videos.

Everyone can then select these sequences which run in a loop and mix them automatically via @ 01net #Collab https://t.co/PdefXFgJXI pic.twitter.com/ddxCd2SyEq

Inspired by the Covid-19

The concept of Collab was born last May within a research and development group internal to Facebook.

At that time, confinement and coronavirus oblige, groups of musicians from around the world could no longer meet.

Some then had the idea of making collaborative pieces by videoconference.

A principle adopted by Collab, who however wanted to simplify the process and address the general public.

Facebook, assures us, the application is also intended for amateurs, who can content themselves with clapping their hands or singing a melody.

Reserved for music for now

This new app developed by Facebook currently focuses on music.

In the future, it will be able to expand into the spheres of humor and dance, like its competitor TikTok.

It is also possible to export the final video to other platforms.

A feature also allows you to subscribe to your favorite contributors to be alerted as soon as they publish new content.
