Chosun University has tentatively concluded that singer Hong Jin-young's master's thesis was plagiarized.

According to today (15th) Chosun University, the Research Integrity Committee under the University Research Ethics Institute recently investigated whether Hong Jin-young's master's thesis was plagiarism, and determined it as plagiarism.

The Research Integrity Committee delivered these details to the Graduate School Committee as an official letter.

It is known that the Graduate School Committee requested Hong to submit his opinions by 5 pm on the 18th.

The Graduate Committee decided to finally decide whether to plagiarize next week after hearing Hong's opinion.

If the master's thesis is concluded as plagiarism, Mr. Hong's master's degree is automatically cancelled.

As the Research Integrity Committee within the school, an authoritative institution that judges thesis plagiarism, concluded that it was plagiarism, it is analyzed that there is a high possibility of canceling his master's and doctoral degree.

Last month, the Kookmin Ilbo reported that the plagiarism rate was 74% as a result of examining Hong's master's thesis with the plagiarism deliberation site'Copy Killer'.

When suspicion of thesis plagiarism arose, Hong Jin-young said, "I have lived hard for the past 10 years with sweat and tears pouring out, but I am also upset when I come up with this narrative."

Jinyoung Hong received a master's degree from the Department of Trade at Chosun University in 2009 with the thesis titled'A Study on the Trend of Cultural Contents Industry through Hallyu'.

In 2012, I received my doctorate from the same graduate school.

There was also a controversy over whether Hong Jin-young's father served as a professor at Chosun University affected his degree acquisition.

Accordingly, Chosun University President Min Young-don ordered an investigation, saying, "We must respond as quickly, severely, and decisively to allegations of plagiarism of Mr. Hong's thesis."
