Spotify recently reset the passwords of many users who were notified via email that they needed to submit a new one.

This decision is due to a security breach that allowed the leak of personal data, reports

Techcrunch

relayed by 01net.

The cybersecurity incident happened on April 9, but was not corrected until November 12.

No cybercriminals have entered the music streaming platform's network, but user data has been accessed by Spotify's business partners.

No figures on the accounts concerned

Spotify has filed a data breach notification with the California Attorney General.

In the document, it is stated that the partner companies were able to gain access to the user's e-mail address, name displayed on the screen, gender, date of birth and password.

The platform did not indicate which trading partners were affected, or how many accounts had been exposed.

However, an internal investigation was launched.

The company also contacted its business partners asking them to delete any data they may have collected.

Spotify, which has more than 320 million users and 144 million subscribers, is the target of many lusts.

Recently, an insecure database containing more than 300,000 stolen user passwords was discovered on an Elasticsearch server.
