The government has announced plans to introduce the Corona 19 vaccine next year.
Minister of Health and Welfare Park Neung-hoo held a briefing at the government office in Seoul on the morning of the 8th and announced that they will pre-purchase 10 million people each from AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Modena, and 4 million people from Janssen.
When the 10 million people introduced through Cobox Facility, an international vaccine joint purchase organization, are added, the total amount secured is 44 million people.
The government explained that it has already signed a pre-purchase agreement with AstraZeneca and confirmed the purchase quantity by signing legally binding purchasing terms with other companies.
The vaccine from AstraZeneca will be introduced first in February-March next year, and the vaccines from Pfizer and Modena will be imported after that.
As for the priority vaccination targets, about 36 million people in need of society, including the elderly and nursing home residents, those vulnerable to COVID-19, and workers at medical institutions are being discussed.
