Parents of middle school children are said to be worried every time they say that their children can legally ride electric kickboards ahead of next Thursday (10th), when the revised road traffic law goes into effect.

However, on the 3rd, there was another news that the National Assembly's Administrative Safety Committee decided on a new revision of the Road Traffic Act. In conclusion, middle school students cannot ride the shared electric kickboard from the 10th.

The amendment to the Road Traffic Act passed by the National Assembly in May allows even 13 years of age or older to use personal mobility devices (PM) such as electric kickboards without a driver's license.

However, on the 30th of last month, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, and the National Police Agency established a public-private consultative body with 15 shared-type electric kickboard companies, so that shared electric kickboards can only be used by those aged 18 or older.

However, for those aged 16-17, rentals are allowed only to those who have obtained a motor vehicle license, and those aged 13 or older can only purchase and ride an electric kickboard.

In other words, the amendment to the Road Traffic Act, which passed the National Assembly Council on the 3rd, brought the regulation related to electric kickboards closer to the origin.

As criticism increased for allowing middle and high school students to drive electric kickboards without a license, the National Assembly's Council of Councils made it possible to use electric kickboards only after obtaining a driver's license equal to or higher than the motorized bicycle license.

Accordingly, boarding is restricted for those under the age of 16 who are unable to obtain a prime mover license.

When this law passes through the Legislative Judicial Committee of the National Assembly and passes the plenary session of the National Assembly, it will take effect after the resolution of the State Council in about 4 months.

However, many middle and high school students are still mistaken for the possibility of renting an electric kickboard without a license from the 10th.

On the 5th, yesterday (on the 5th), a post was posted on the internet cafe, where junior high school student netizens are actively active, saying, ``It is good to be able to ride a shared electric kickboard without permission from my mom and dad''.

Middle school students their age expressed sympathy with comments.

Some point out that there is an urgent need to take countermeasures due to the poor identification of major shared electric kickboard makers.

It has been reported that there are many cases where there are no special restrictions on using the electric kickboard even if you upload any picture instead of the driver's license on the companies' apps or press the'skip' button at all.

In internet cafes where married women in their 30s and 50s visit a lot, articles stating,'I can't follow children all day long, but what if I rent an electric kickboard and run down the road?'

In the meantime, the National Police Agency is planning to start working on creating a driver's license for PM only.

An official from the National Police Agency said, "To ensure the safety of the public as much as possible, we began to think about a license for exclusive use of electric kickboards. We will conduct research services soon and form a consultative body with the Road Traffic Authority and shared electric kickboard companies."
