winter, a hot wire is wound to prevent water pipes from freezing and bursting. However, hundreds of fires occur every year from these freeze-preventing heat wires.

Let's review how to use it safely.

Reporter Jo Yoon-ha will explain through an experiment.

fire at the Jecheon Sports Center in 2017 that killed 29 people.

A fire at Ilsan Obstetrics and Gynecology last year, when 350 people, including mothers and newborns, were evacuated to the rooftop.

In all of the fires at Full Gospel Church in Incheon last year, when 16 members of the church drank toxic gas, fires started from hot wires used to prevent freezing of pipes in winter.

The annual average of 320 fires caused by the freeze protection hot wire, and the damage alone amounts to 430 million won.

Through an experiment, we found out how to use a heating wire to prevent such a fire.

Electricity was passed to the heat wire that was wound at regular intervals and the heat wire that was not.

The thermal imaging camera catches the densely stacked heating wires glowing red.

As the temperature rises, the piping even warps.

This time, we looked at how quickly the cut heat wire was cut and burned with a foreign substance.

In less than two minutes of starting the experiment, a flame pops up right away.

If heated pipes are covered with thermal insulation, they will ignite at a faster rate and are dangerous.

If you use a cut-off freeze-prevention heat wire, foreign matter may get stuck. It is safer to use it with a silicone finish and a cap instead of sticking tape to prevent it.

In addition, experts advise that it is safer to use an integrated heating wire with a finish finish rather than a cut-off heating wire.
