Alexia's husband had denied for months, confessed, and then repeatedly changed his story.

The course of the events is now almost entirely known: after the beatings and strangulation, the man carries his wife's body into the forest and tries to cremate it.

Over the course of the investigation, Jonathann Daval finally confessed.

Still, the reasons that led to Alexia's death are still unclear.

At the assizes, the lawyer of the accused, Master Ornella Spatafora, evokes "reproaches" addressed by Alexia to her husband then "the words of too much": "They are tolerated, accepted, and then one day we do not support them any more because they demolish the little self-confidence that we had left ", explains the lawyer at the microphone of Europe 1.

Alexia's family refuses to dirty the image of the young woman.

"Everything they are going to say about Alexia is false," exclaims the mother of the victim Isabelle Fouillot, referring to wiretaps that did not yield anything and a totally empty file.

"The more the days go by, the more I miss Alexia. Mourning is not possible at the moment," she sighs.

The trial is to last the whole week.

Jonathann Daval faces life imprisonment.
