‘Buddha Birth Ceremony’ is sure to be listed as human intangible heritage

It is certain that the'Yandeunghoe', a Buddhist event celebrating the birth of the Buddha, will be on the list of representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity.

The Cultural Heritage Administration said that the evaluation body under the Intergovernmental Committee of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Intangible Heritage conducted a decision on'recommendation for registration' after reviewing the'Yeondeunghoe'.

The final decision is made at a meeting held at UNESCO headquarters next month, and the'recommendation for listing' decision is rarely overturned.
