This is a change that may displease users of Google Photos.

spotted new information in the latest update to the photos app.

There are several messages indicating "Unlock more editing functions [...] with a Google One subscription" or "Subscribe to a Google One subscription to take advantage of new functions".

Tough competition

Google Photos, an app found on all Android smartphones, offers to synchronize photos continuously but also has many editing options.

If some of these options are already paid, expanding access to features to Google One subscribers seems risky.

The Play Store is already full of quality photo editing applications, notes

.

The paid plans for Google One, the tech giant's online storage service, range from 2.99 to 99.99 euros per month depending on the space offered.

Google has not confirmed the information on the switch from touch-up options to pay, and it is not known when such an update will be implemented.
