Now, you can check the personal information of sex offenders on mobile.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced today (9th) that the name, age, photo, and address of sex offenders will be announced on mobile from the 25th.

The government has provided information on the personal information of sex offenders by mail to the heads of households protected by children and youth under the age of 19.

However, it takes 3 to 5 days from sending to receiving, and it has been pointed out that there are problems such as delays in delivery, loss, and personal information disclosure.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Leisure and Home Affairs decided to introduce a'mobile notification system' so that sex offenders can easily check information on their smartphones whenever they move to a neighborhood or move to another place of residence.

The householder who wants to receive mobile notifications can sign up for Kakao Talk and Kakao Pay and then go through the identity verification process. Even if you are not the head of the household, you can check the contents of the notice on your mobile by applying to view the Sex Offender Notification e website (www.sexoffender.go.kr) or in the app.

By the end of the year, it announced that it plans to combine the existing postal service with mobile notices, and from 2021, it will only send postal notices to those who do not receive mobile bills. However, a mail notice will be sent to children and youth protection organizations as they do now.

Minister of Gender Equality and Family Lee Jung-ok said, "We will continue to improve the disclosure and notification system of sex offenders so that our children and families can live in a safe environment from sex crimes."
