A man in his 20s who was accused of swearing and assaulting a woman in his 60s for coughing at a subway station in Seoul was sentenced to a fine at the first trial.



Yesterday (4th) Criminal 6 (Judge Shin Jin-hwa) of the Seoul Western District Law announced that he had sentenced a 26-year-old A who was handed over to trial on suspicion of injury to a fine of 10 million won.



Mr. A is accused of hitting Mr. B, who was sitting next to him at the platform at Gupabal Station in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, around 6 pm on May 3rd.



It was investigated that Mr. A moved to his place by swearing when Mr. B coughed, and after a while when he encountered Mr. B again, he said, "Shall I kill you, do you want to die, XXX".

When Mr. B protested, Mr. A pushed and knocked him over, and as a result, Mr. B suffered an injury that fractured his lumbar bone.



The judge said, "The victim is old and the damage caused by the injury in this case is very large," and "The defendant repented of his actions, but did not pay compensation to the victim."
