The prosecution confiscated McDonald's Korea for allegations of selling hamburgers with undercooked meat patties.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office, Division 2 (Prosecutor Kim Hyung-soo), sent an investigator to the McDonald's office in Seoul on the morning of the 3rd to secure internal documents such as food material management books.

Today's seizure and search took place more than one year and nine months after nine civic groups, including ``political mothers,'' accused McDonalds of Korea and patty suppliers for violating the food sanitation law and incurring negligence in business. .

McDonald's Korea is accused of selling bad hamburgers while concealing it even after a patty manufacturer reported that contaminated patties with intestinal hemorrhagic E. coli were found in some stores in July 2016.

In September of that year, one parent sued McDonald's in Korea on charges of violating the food hygiene law in July of the following year, saying that the child suffered from hemolytic uremic syndrome after eating an undercooked hamburger at a McDonald's store and was diagnosed with kidney failure.

Later, as more and more people claimed similar symptoms, the controversy about'hamburger disease' arose.

The prosecutors who investigated the case at the time said that there was not enough evidence to prove McDonald's responsibility.

As a result, civic groups have accused McDonald's of Korea again and re-investigation has been conducted.
