Two years ago, we intensively reported on the problem of'radon bed'.

The mattresses that have good negative ions contained radioactive substances, but these negative ions products are still on sale, and it was confirmed that radon was detected in some of the mask products that we use every day in close contact with our nose and mouth.

Reporter Kang Min-woo reports exclusively.

<Reporter> An

internet shopping mall that sells various functional masks.

A product that is said to produce good negative ions for the body stands out.

It is advertised as having antibacterial and anti-odor properties by putting a functional substance that releases negative ions into the mask.

It is a clear violation of the Peripheral Radiation Safety Management Act.

This is because the revised law after the radon crisis banned the use of raw materials to make so-called'anionic' products, as well as advertising as good for the body.

We ordered masks that say negative ions come out and asked the relevant laboratory for precise measurements.

From the start, the measuring instrument makes an unusual alarm sound.

[Park Gyeong-buk/Gimpo University Environmental Health Research Institute Director: (Does it sound right?) The short interval between the alarm sounds means that the concentration is high.] As a

result of the measurement, only 1,700 becquerels of radon, one type of radon, are .

Very high, considering indoor radon recommendations below 148 becquerels.

It's like breathing radon while trying to avoid coronavirus.

[Park Gyeongbuk/Gimpo University Environmental Health Research Center Director: It is very shocking.

It was roughly the same as the highest on a mattress that occurred two years ago in the radon bed incident.]

Experts say it could be more dangerous as it is a mask that touches directly to the respiratory tract.

[Do-Myung Baek/Professor, Graduate School of Public Health, Seoul National University: Since the source is in front of the nose in the end, internal exposure occurs where contaminants enter the internal bronchi and lungs.]

Like this, a mask that spews out radon was easily purchased on the Internet. Since the revision of the law last year, there has been no single incident detected and punished by the Ministry of Nuclear Safety Commission.

The Yuan Ahn said that there have been no cases yet, but it is monitoring a number of products that advertise the negative ions effect and is continuing measures such as stopping advertisements.

As'anion' products, which proved to be similar science after the radon bed was reported last year, still threaten the health of the people, strong crackdowns and publicity from the relevant ministries are required.
