The prosecution requested an arrest warrant for Jeong Jeong-soon (equivalent to Cheongju) of the Democratic Party, who was accused of committing accounting fraud in the 4·15 general election.

The Cheongju District Prosecutor's Office announced on the 1st that it had requested a warrant for arrest against lawmaker Chung for violating the Political Fund Act and the Personal Information Protection Act.

Rep. Jung voluntarily appeared at the prosecution at 11 am the day before when the motion for arrest was passed in the National Assembly and a warrant for arrest was issued in the court.

The prosecution issued an arrest warrant for Chung in the investigation room and conducted a high-intensity investigation until this evening.

Rep. Jung is currently detained in Cheongju Prison after the second day of investigation.

The prosecution believes that Jung committed accounting fraud in the 4·15 general election and received illegal political funds from the Cheongju City Council.

There is also a suspicion of using illegally acquired volunteer center member information for elections.

The prosecutors' prosecution was suspicious of him based on the testimony and evidence, but it was reported that he stubbornly denied the allegations.

Unlike an arrest warrant, the arrest warrant requested by the prosecution does not require the consent of the National Assembly.

The Supreme Court's'regulations on the handling of personal restraint affairs' stipulate that it is not necessary to request consent for arrest warrants requested after issuing a warrant in accordance with the consent of the National Assembly.

Therefore, whether or not to be arrested is decided through the court's interrogation of the arrested suspect (substantial warrant examination) without any separate procedure.

Apart from the prosecution's investigation, Rep. Jung is first prosecuted for violating the election law, whose statute of prosecution has expired on the 15th, and will be tried on the 18th of this month.

Seven people, including election camp officials and city councilors, who were involved in the case related to Chung are also in progress or are about to commence.
