The prosecution requested an arrest warrant against Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Jeong-soon who is accused of committing accounting fraud in the last 4·15 general election.
Rep. Chung voluntarily appeared at the prosecution in the morning of the day (31) when the motion for arrest was passed in the National Assembly and a warrant for arrest was issued in the court.
In the investigation room, the prosecution issued an arrest warrant for Chung and conducted a intensive investigation until yesterday evening.
Rep. Jung is currently detained in Cheongju Prison after the second day of investigation.
Unlike an arrest warrant, the arrest warrant requested by the prosecution does not require the consent of the National Assembly and is determined whether or not to be arrested through the court's substantial examination of the warrant without any separate procedure.
