Online clothing store Zalando buys a company that is developing an app that allows people to scan their bodies to find out if a piece of clothing fits.
The app should help people who buy clothes online to determine whether the product fits.
Ultimately, this should ensure that Zalando sends fewer sizes that are too small or too large, all of which have to be returned because they do not fit.
"Clothing sizes differ from brand to brand, in different categories and countries," Zalando writes of the acquisition of Fision.
"This confuses customers and leads to unnecessary returns of clothing."
The originally German company, which is active in seventeen European countries, wants customers to be able to provide their exact clothing sizes in the future.
This should ensure that customers only buy or are recommended clothing that actually fits.
Zalando has not disclosed how much it paid for Fision.
