  • John Boyega VS Star Wars. "They take out a black character, sell him as important and then put him aside"

Just like in the Star Wars movies.

Some engineers from the YouTube channel 'The Hacksmith' have built the first

lightsaber

that, at a temperature of 2000 degrees Celsius, is capable of cutting any metal and retracting at the whim of the one who turns it on with the push of a button.

Through a nozzle that costs more than four thousand dollars (about 3,400 euros), similar to the one used in the glass blowing industry, the canal's engineers combine propane gas and oxygen to generate a

chemical reaction

.

The result is a hot plasma that is exactly the thickness and appearance of a lightsaber.

"This beam is really cool. It actually burns at about 4000 degrees Fahrenheit, which is capable of going through a lot of things," James Hobson, chief engineer, says in awe in the video about the saber uploaded to his YouTube channel.

Youtubers have even found a way to

change the color of the saber

, something "really cool" according to Hobson.

In the video you can see how they color the flame using different salts, and the result in each of the cases resembles the laser swords of different characters in the saga.

The lightsaber, cutting material

If boric acid is added, for example, the result will be

green

(Luke Skywalker);

with calcium chloride, an

orange-

red

color appears

(dark side sabers), "which almost hurts to look at";

and with sodium chloride, also known as salt, you get a

yellow sheet

(like that of the character Ray in the last installments of the franchise).

The system is complex and somewhat difficult to use, since they have to carry a backpack on their back with the gases.

The flame also

appears fluidly but is still distorted at times.

The result is, even with damage, the "world's first retractable laser sheet".

And it's true: at will, through regulators at the base of the sword, they can control the flare.

The final video of them

testing the lightsaber is not available to everyone
