<Anchor> The

government has decided to buy all the pigs raised in farms around it, including Hwacheon, Gangwon-do, where African swine fever was first confirmed this year.

Then, most of the farmers expressed their willingness to refuse and are strongly opposed.

Reporter Park Chan-beom covered the reason.

<Reporter> The

targets for the purchase of domestic pigs are 175 farms and 420,000 in total, including 81 farms in Gangwon, including Cheorwon, Yanggu, and Chuncheon, including Hwacheon where African swine fever first occurred on the 9th, and 94 in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do.

These are farms within a 10km radius of the ASF-infected wild boar found.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs sent an official letter to the city and county in a situation where epidemiological investigations such as infection routes were not completed on the day of the ASF outbreak.

Pigs that are large enough to be shipped will be bought and distributed by the government, and piglets will be killed.

Farmers targeted for purchase are strongly opposed.

Even if they receive a reward, they cannot promise when they will be able to raise pigs again once the piglets are killed.

[Bae Sang-Geon/Handon Association Chairman of Gangwon-do Council: After the farm is normalized, it will take at least one year and six months to two years to return.]

Some farmers who

have not

responded to purchase are given strict quarantine responsibility. The farmhouse explains that it's like a ban on breeding.

[Gi-ho Jang/Hwacheon Farmer: If you do not allow manure to be taken out, some farms will be saturated within a week if they are short and most of them within two weeks if they are long.

If you miss that time (you can't breed it.)] While

most of the target farms have expressed their intention to refuse to purchase, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food said that last year, along with the killing farms in northern Gyeonggi Province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food will accelerate the relevant screening so that pigs can be reared as soon as possible in these areas.
