The accident took place Thursday around 4 a.m. while the young man was in the company of four friends at an altitude of 1,300 m, at the top of Mont Saint-Eynard, where the group had gathered to spend the evening.

According to the first elements collected by the Meylan gendarmerie, in charge of the investigation, the student would have lost his balance while he was on a rock on the edge of a cliff, with his back to the precipice, around a campfire. . He would then have fallen into the void in front of his friends, falling 150 m below. "There was no blood alcohol level," said the gendarmes, who spoke of a "moderate festive gathering". The victim's body was discovered around 6.30 a.m. Thursday by a mobile team from the Grenoble CRS, which was hired on the spot after his friends notified the emergency services.
