The Tesla gain in autonomy.
Thanks to an Autopilot software update, the brand's electric vehicles can now go green without driver intervention.
The latter no longer has to accept the decision of the autonomous driving software, reports
Electrek
.
A previous update from "Full self-driving capability" allowed the vehicle to stop automatically when a light turned red, says
Capital
.
But this update did not provide for a specific reaction from the vehicle to the green light: in the event of Autopilot activated, Tesla requested that the driver authorize the vehicle to cross the intersection.
He had to send a signal by pressing the lever or the accelerator.
You have to go straight ahead and be behind a vehicle
“Your vehicle will no longer need driver confirmation to continue at green lights as long as there is a vehicle in front of you and when you should not turn.
Every driver is responsible for staying alert and active while using the autopilot and must be ready to act at all times, ”Tesla tells
Electrek
.
It will therefore not be possible to authorize the vehicle to cross an intersection equipped with traffic lights, if it is to turn.
In this case, you will have to take control of the car.
For now, only Tesla owners who subscribe to Autopilot's early access beta test program in the United States are currently affected by this feature.
It should be extended to the rest of the world in the coming weeks.
