Searches took place Tuesday in Saint-Ouen, Seine-Saint-Denis, in the premises of the Ile-de-France Regional Council headed by Valérie Pécresse (Libres!), As part of an investigation for " embezzlement of public funds, "the Paris prosecutor's office said on Wednesday.

This investigation was opened in February following a report from the Regional Chamber of Accounts (CRC), the prosecution told AFP, confirming information from the Parisian.

The survey relates in particular to the contracts of staff responsible for assignments.

"Persistent irregularities in human resources"

In its report, the regional chamber of accounts noted in particular "persistent irregularities in terms of human resources", or a wage bill which "has not decreased" despite "the decline in staff".

The institution had however underlined "a financial situation which is improving", with "a controlled debt" and "an improvement of the capacity of deleveraging".

In her written response, Valérie Pécresse deplored a tone "dependent" on the report, according to her "completely out of step with the appreciation (of) rating agencies" and "the Court of Auditors itself", which had underlined that the IDF region had reduced its operating expenses since 2015 and controlled its payroll.
