It has been confirmed that a mother and daughter found dead in a studio while suffering from mental illness voluntarily stopped subsidy for basic living expenses.

According to the Administrative Welfare Center in charge on the 28th, in April 2018, mother A (52) announced to the center that she would stop receiving subsidies.

It was intended to help people who are more difficult because economic activities are possible.

The recipient was a daughter (22), and when she entered a social welfare facility in August 2011 when she was 13 years old, she was selected as a target.

The reason for entering a welfare facility was A's abuse.

The funding was delivered to the social welfare facility that protected the daughter in the form of facility benefits.

When her daughter entered a welfare facility, it was confirmed that Mr. A was also admitted to a mental hospital and had been treated for several years.

When her adult daughter left the welfare facility, Mr. A stopped receiving subsidies.

Even if we stopped paying for facilities, we were able to find out if there was any support available to the family, but it was confirmed that Mr. A refused.

Because these mothers and daughters are adults and have no physical problems, the welfare center has accepted the request for suspension.

The mother and daughter had suffered from mental illness, but they were not diagnosed with a disability, so they did not receive support.

According to welfare facilities that have been protecting her daughter, her daughter had a minor intellectual disability (boundary line intelligence disorder) that can be classified into disability levels 5-6 in the past.

Accordingly, welfare facilities and schools recommended disability tests to receive welfare benefits and care from related institutions, but the objection of Mr. A was defeated.

In addition, the person who leaves the welfare facility is subject to case management for 5 years, but even this did not proceed in the opposite of Mr. A.

With the help of the facility, the daughter obtained a nursing care certificate, but after returning home, it was confirmed that she rarely engaged in social life.

A welfare facility official said, "Mr. A stubbornly opposed the case management, so the contact with the household was cut off." .

The mother and daughter who died were found in a studio in Masanwon-gu, Changwon-si earlier this year.

Given that there were no suspicions of murder and no wills were found, the police determined that suicide was also unlikely.

However, it was estimated that there is a high possibility that the daughter died of starvation after the mother died suddenly.

The police have given an autopsy to the National Institute of Science Investigation to investigate the exact cause of death.
