It was revealed that some of the influenza (flu) vaccines that were discontinued due to the'room temperature exposure' accident were on the market.

According to the quarantine authorities and the medical community today (25th), it is known that some of the flu vaccines delivered to frontline hospitals and public health centers by Shinsung Pharmaceutical, which have signed a vaccine procurement contract with the government, were actually used for vaccination.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is confirming this fact, and is checking the quantity and number of vaccinations distributed.

The government has signed a contract to supply 12.59 million doses of flu vaccine this year (for one dose). The vaccination business has been completely stopped since the night of the 21st, confirming that the principles were not followed.

The amount of water that has been discontinued due to exposure to room temperature is 5 million doses.

This amount was scheduled to be used for school-age vaccinations between the ages of 13 and 18 from the 22nd, but it was reported that some hospitals that did not know about stopping the vaccination had used the vaccine on the morning of the 22nd.

The government has explained that out of the 5 million doses until yesterday, there was no supply in the market.

Nothing has yet been confirmed whether the room temperature exposure vaccine is safe.

However, experts point out that if the protein in the vaccine is modified due to temperature changes, the efficacy of the vaccine may change or become a'blind water vaccine' that is not effective at all.

The government has stated that it plans to resume vaccinations sequentially if there is no problem after collecting all flu vaccines exposed to room temperature to verify safety and efficacy.
