Facebook has just announced a brand new feature: Right Manager for Images.

This is a tool to protect the intellectual property of people who post images on the social network, reports

Presse-Citron

.

A similar feature, called Rights Manager, had already been released some time ago for video creators.

“Today we present Rights Manager for Images, a new version of Rights Manager that uses image matching technology to help creators and publishers protect and manage their image content at scale,” said Dave Axelgard, Product Manager explained in a blog post.

Help creators and publishers

People who wish to take advantage of this new functionality must first register on the web.facebook.com/rights_manager/apply page before entering some information requested by Facebook.

Those responsible for this tool will then study the request to accept it or not.

This type of functionality therefore protects creators but can also make it possible to sanction those who use images to which they do not have the rights.

"If you post content that infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party (such as copyrights or trademarks) on multiple occasions, we may deactivate your account or remove your Page or group under the policy of Facebook in terms of recidivism, ”recalls the social network.
